Cottages are often separate from municipal water and sewage systems. As a result, a private well on the property often provides household water, and an onsite septic system handles cottage waste disposal.

You will probably need to contact someone sooner or later to service your well or your septic tank, or perhaps install a new one. An addition to the cottage may require a new septic system to serve the whole cottage.

You might also wish to call someone in to install a new water pump or a water treatment system.
