Poll: Is it a cabin or a cottage?

Is it a cottage or a cabin? What is the difference between the two? Is a cabin in the woods and a cottage by the water? Are cabins more remote? Are cabins for solidarity and cottages for entertaining? The line between these two terms is not always clear. Maybe it is a “cottabin” or a “cabbage.” A cottage is defined as, “a small simple house, typically one near a lake or beach” while a cabin is defined as, “a small shelter or house, made of wood and situated in a wild or remote area.” No matter which one it is or what you call it - everyone should have one in Kawartha Lakes! What do you call yours?

What’s the difference between a cabin and a cottage? Some friends of mine can’t agree on what to call their summer property at the lake. She always refers to it as “the cottage” while he calls it “the cabin”.
