The contentious issue of how to handle short-term rentals in Kawartha Lakes could remain unchanged if council moves to accept a recommendation from city staff. When the matter goes before council next Tuesday, June 19 it’s expected a staff report on the matter will be referred to its Aug. 14 meeting to allow for additional information to flow in. But as is, staff is recommending “status quo and monitoring” after considering public response and the costs of enforcing a more aggressive approach to the issue.
