Many cottagers just don't pay enough attention to the tools in their kitchen. How many times have you tried to make a recipe and then realized you don't have the tools you need? Cottage Life has a list of kitchen essentials to keep at the cottage. A thermometer for the BBQ and a few ice trays are a great place to start. If you do decide to use old knives, at least sharpen them first.
