Funding programs from Kawartha Conservation

If you are a farm owner or land owner and you're trying to be environmentally friendly, Kawartha Conservation may have some funding to help. "Some examples of projects Kawartha Conservation has supported on farms include: - construction of manure storage facilities that make it easier to manage livestock manure; - installation of eavestroughs on barns to prevent roof runoff from flowing through the barnyard; - fencing along streams to restrict access by livestock; - planting windbreaks; - establishing tree cover on marginal land that is not being used for agricultural purposes, and, - other projects that contribute to a clean and healthy watershed." Thank you, Kawartha Conservation for working to protect our beautiful natural environment here in Kawartha Lakes!

Kawartha Conservation offers funding programs to help protect the environment

KAWARTHA LAKES Farmers and other residents looking for ways to reduce threats to local waterways and lands may have funding resources available from Kawartha Conservation. Last month, the Environment Commissioner of Ontario released a detailed report identifying several threats to the environment, including phosphorus in waterways due to urban and rural runoff. Kawartha Conservation Stewardship coordinator Holly Shipclark says the agency has several types of projects the agency supports for landowners, particularly farmers.
