Cyclists from all over North America are raising money to end poverty by biking across Canada. “The ride covers 6,759 kilometres; it left Vancouver on June 26 and will end in Halifax on Aug. 31.” On Thursday August 10, some riders stopped at Jennings Creek Christian Reformed Church in Lindsay for lunch. Cyclists on this ride range in age from 12 to 81, but not all complete the entire ride. Some just choose to do certain legs of the trip, and 52 will complete the entire thing. This is the fourth time this cycling trip has occurred and the charity has raised about $7 million so far.
LINDSAY — Cyclists riding for a special cause wheeled into Lindsay hoping to raise money in the battle against global poverty. The Sea to Sea ride website states the ride began when, in 2002 a missionary nurse described a fundraiser that spanned the Appalachian trail. “After three years of planning, the first Sea to Sea tour celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Christian Reformed Church in Canada …,” the site notes.
