City Encourages Pedestrians to Wear Light-Coloured or Reflective Clothing at Night

Date: 11/30/2015

With the days getting darker earlier it is often difficult for motorists to see people walking along area roadways, running or walking their dogs,” explained Paramedic Chief Keith Kirkpatrick.

We want to remind people to wear something reflective or more easily visible to motorists,” added Fire Chief Mark Pankhurst.

"We want to help ensure everyone is and remains safe.” Ward 5 Councillor Steve Strangway said he had heard similar concerns from residents in his ward in recent weeks.

I have heard from a number of people that it is sometimes difficult to see pedestrians or individuals walking their dogs near the road, especially when they are wearing darker clothing,” he said. “Wearing light-coloured clothing or carrying a flashlight is an easy thing that could help prevent a tragedy.
