City Holding Public Meetings for Streetscape and Façade Design Guidelines

Date: 01/11/2016

The city developed the streetscape and façade design guidelines following a series of design workshops and feedback on the draft guidelines by each community’s advisory committee. Before the city presents the final streetscape and façade design guidelines to council, the public will have a chance to see the guidelines first-hand at various public meetings.

Residents, business owners, visitors, and the community at large all benefit from healthy, vibrant downtowns,” said Economic Development Officer Vaughn Finch. “Downtown revitalization focuses on managing and improving the economic, physical, and social well-being of a community's traditional town centre.

Mr. Finch explained that creating enjoyable yet functional public streets and spaces while maintaining cohesive and aesthetically pleasing façades is critical to downtown revitalization.

We want the communities to come out to the meetings to see and comment on the guidelines, the results of their countless hours of input and feedback, before we present the guidelines to council,” he said.
