Join in on the nostalgic, small-town fun in Lindsay

Canada Day celebrations in Lindsay begin at 3:00 p.m. at Wilson Fields on Colborne Street West. The following activities will be on offer for kids:

  • Pony rides
  • Horse-and-wagon rides
  • A petting zoo
  • Old-fashioned children's games
  • Face-painting
  • Bouncy castles and an inflatable slide
  • Balloon creations

The whole family will enjoy the following:

  • A 24-foot rock climbing tower
  • Chainsaw wood-carving demonstrations
  • A steam equipment demonstration
  • A display of vintage cars, fire trucks, bicycles, and farm equipment
  • Kawartha Lakes K9 unit demonstrations
  • A charity barbecue (ice cream, cotton candy, birthday cake, and watermelon are on the menu)
  • Country music, including hometown band Montana Sky
  • Fireworks

Watch a river raft race or hitch a ride on a wagon

In Minden Hills, birthday celebrations begin at 10:00 a.m. and wrap up at 3:00 p.m. Delight in the following attractions:

  • Live music
  • A river raft race
  • Wagon rides
  • A "Mad Science" demonstration
  • Kawartha Dairy ice cream

Sample a sweetly nostalgic dessert, harking back to summers past

Picnic with your family and your teddy bear

The Haliburton Highlands Museum will hold a Canada Day teddy bear picnic from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Haliburton Highlands Museum at 66 Museum Road. Children, grown-ups, and teddy bears can enjoy an afternoon of crafts, activities, and entertainment. Dress up your teddy bear in fitting attire for Canada Day for the chance to win prizes. Watch fireworks crackle and pop over Cameron Lake

In Fenelon Falls, Canada Day celebrations unfold at 3:30 p.m. at Garnet Graham Park (the intersection of Bond Street and Francis Street). Dress in red and white and join the birthday festivities in this quaint Ontario town. There will be music, birthday cake, and food vendors. Throughout the day, kids can also enjoy water fun, supervised swimming, face-painting, along with a playground and picnic area. Explore the village's shops and restaurants or stroll along Lock 34 and watch the boat traffic. The Legion has organized a barbecue steak dinner for 5:00 p.m. You must buy a ticket in advance. Old-Kinmount’s Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. at Kinmount Fairgrounds, on County Road 503. The following attractions will be on offer in this historic village:

  • Checkers the Clown
  • Children's games and races
  • Barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs
  • Fireworks
