More than a dozen venues will be part of this year’s self-driving tour along the city’s scenic country roads and rolling hills.
“Kawartha Farmfest is a wonderful annual event that allows our residents and visitors to enjoy agriculture-related experiences,” said Kawartha Lakes Mayor Andy Letham. “Whether it is picking blueberries from the farm, shopping for Thanksgiving décor, interacting with animals or meeting and talking with local farmers, this popular event is great for the whole family.”
By taking part in this year’s self-driving tour, you can stop at a variety of farms to see where your food comes from and have a chance to interact with the animals. Also, there are countryside attractions featuring, among other things, Kawartha Dairy ice cream, local farmers’ markets or live auctions.
“We are very excited to host Kawartha Farmfest once again in 2015,” said Kelly Maloney, acting director of economic development. “Admission stickers will be available in advance at Kawartha Dairy Stores in Lindsay and Bobcaygeon. They will also be available at the city’s municipal service centres, selected libraries or at any of the host sites on October 3rd.”
By purchasing your admission in advance, you will receive a coupon for a free baby cone at Kawartha Dairy to enjoy on Farmfest day. Kawartha Farmfest will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will give everyone a chance to celebrate the fall harvest while providing an opportunity to experience Kawartha Lakes farm life. Tickets are $5 for adults and free for children under the age of 14. Participants will receive an admission sticker and program passport that contains a detailed map and descriptions of each site open.
“Kawartha Lakes is a wonderful and special place in the fall,” said Mayor Letham. “Invite your friends and family from outside the area to come and enjoy the colours, Kawartha Lakes hospitality and charm, and all the great activities and stops planned for this year’s Kawartha Farmfest.”
