Kawartha Lakes Enhances Service Centre Phone System

Date: 01/26/2016

The 705-324-9411 number now connects all municipal service centres in Kawartha Lakes. Previously, each service centre had separate phone lines in each of the five offices.

Our residents, businesses, and the general public will benefit from being able to access all service centres with a single telephone number rather than several,” said Lee Anna Thornbury, manager of customer services. “If residents call any service centre, they can now automatically be transferred to another staff person or division without having to hang up and dial another city phone number.

To contact a service centre directly, the numbers are as follows:

  • Lindsay 705-324-9411
  • Bobcaygeon 705-324-9411 ext. 3580
  • Omemee 705-324-9411 ext. 3520
  • Bethany 705-324-9411 ext. 3540 Library ext. 3544
  • Coboconk 705-324-9411 ext. 3515 Library ext. 3504
  • Kirkfield 705-324-9411 ext. 3560 Library ext. 3564

When callers dial the main city number, followed by the appropriate extension, they will be greeted by a customer services representative Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Library hours are different and are recorded on the library extensions. Callers who use the former service centre numbers, although inactive, will hear a voice message informing them of the new extensions.

We want to make the transition to the new number as seamless as possible for our residents,” said Lee Anna Thornbury. “Accordingly, clear messaging is available on the former service centre numbers. The city will eventually phase out the old phone numbers."

This new process will allow for better connectivity throughout the municipality for both residents and staff. Continued improvements are in-line with the customer services goal to continue to meet and exceed customers’ expectations. For after-hours emergencies, including weekends and statutory holidays, the city’s after-hours emergency number is 1-877-885-7337.
