Do the roads seem a little under the weather lately?
That's because they are literally under the weather.
MyKawartha reported, "Grading can become difficult with fluctuating temperatures, especially in spring weather; with the ground’s surface beginning to thaw, in combination with spring rains occurring, the amount of water located within the structure of gravel roads can prevent crews from performing desired maintenance."
Hopefully the weather will dry up and they can get to work on those roads soon. In the meantime, drive safely and carefully!
If crews did continue to use graders, gravel road surfaces would lose integrity, leading to increased damage and unsafe road conditions.City staff recognize that the result of melting surfaces creating water in and on the road base can cause difficult driving conditions.
