This year the Trent-Severn waterway ovening has been delayed. The new opening date with be Friday, May 24.
KawarthaNow reported, "Above normal snow pack in some areas and significant precipitation system-wide have resulted in extreme high water levels and flows throughout the Trent-Severn Waterway, which causes unsafe boating conditions."
Please remember with high water levels to be very careful! Water-based activities are discouraged by Parks Canada until the opening date as well.
For safety reasons, Parks Canada is delaying the opening of the 2019 navigation season on the Trent-Severn Waterway by one week, until Friday, May 24th.In 2017, Parks Canada also delayed the opening of the season by one week due to high water levels and flows.
