Summer is prime time for ticks so here are some tips to keep safe! Check yourself for ticks often because you will not be able to feel the bite. "After being outdoors, always check for ticks particularly the groin, scalp, ankles, armpits, naval and behind the ears and knees. Taking as shower as soon as possible can help wash off ticks." Kawartha Lakes residents urged to watch for ticks

The arrival of summer-like weather is prime time for ticks and the potential for Lyme disease.   The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit encourages people to avoid blacklegged ticks - also known as deer ticks - that can carry the bacteria that causes Lyme disease. Lyme disease is a serious illness spread by the bite of an infected blacklegged tick.
