The oldest trees in Kawartha Lakes are on the Pine Ridge property near Omemee, and they are now protected! Some of these trees are over 200 years old and the property is owned by Bob and Mary Hartley. KawarthaNow reported, "To prevent future development of gravel pits, the Hartleys decided to enter into the conservation easement agreement with KLT to provide long-term protection." Unfortunately this area is not accessible to the public, but it's great to know that part of our history will be protected in the years to come!
