Why is Kawartha Lakes City Hall orange?

Kawartha Lakes City hall is going to be lit up orange soon! From November 25 to December 10 the city will be supporting a worldwide campaign called UNiTE. The CN Tower, Nathan Phillips Square, Peterborough city hall, Kuala Lumpur, The Hague, and more buildings are all participating. "The UN secretary general's UNiTE to End Violence against Women Campaign has invited governments, UN agencies, civil society organizations and individuals to keep the world orange for 16 days and calls for action to prevent and end violence against women and girls. Orange shines a spotlight on that violence and points to a brighter future." Our city stands up for great causes!

To the editor: I am very proud to say that our city hall will be lit up in orange from Nov. 25 to Dec. 10. That seems strange. Is it for a belated Halloween? No, it is part of a worldwide campaign, the United Nations' UNiTE campaign that will see the CN Tower, Nathan Phillips Square, the city hall in Peterborough, Kuala Lumpur in Southeast Asia, The Hague in the Netherlands, the B.C.
