The group has completed most of this work by purchasing materials and manufactured items at a modest cost. The volunteers raised the necessary funding for these jobs through activities like flea markets and silent auctions.
The work to restore the village’s railway station has now reached a new – and exciting – stage. The upstairs – or the central interior of the old station – is the next project on the agenda. The group hopes to make the upper floor into a museum to house local historical information, memorabilia, and artifacts. A proposed design for this work is already complete.
But the next phase will require much more funding as the scope of the work exceeds the skill sets of the volunteer group as well as their ability to raise money through traditional fund-raising activities.
The committee, which has been in place for quite some time, needs new members. In particular, the group is looking for people with leadership and organizational skills along with the ability to raise funds.
